Tricia Kalka, LMP has been practicing massage therapy in Gunnison, CO for over 23 years. She has dedicated her professional life to helping people feel their best through the gift of compassionate and intelligent soft tissue therapy. Since her initial massage training in Seattle at the Brian Utting School of Massage, she has continued to expand her skills and understanding of the body. Tricia specializes in Hawaiian Lomilomi massage, Precision Neuromuscular Therapy, and is currently studying orthopedic massage with the Academy of Clinical Massage's online program.
Hawaiian bodywork is a heart centered practice uniting body, mind and spirit through quietly focused intention, breath, awareness, and recognition of the Divine in all. Lomilomi utilizes long, fluid, wave-like forearm and hand movements with pressure ranging from gentle to deep. Stretching and joint mobilization techniques may be incorporated into the session, if appropriate. Lomilomi is deep work, but not painful. It is a deeply relaxing experience.
PNMT utilizes various assessment methods, along with a deeper understanding of anatomy and function, to help zero in on the most likely causes of your pain and dysfunction. A good working knowledge of typical pain patterns, trigger point referrals and postural distortions are key to this work. A typical session with Tricia will integrate the deep relaxation of Lomilomi with the precise, targeted work of PNMT. This helps to both calm the nervous system and release painful trigger points and areas of restriction. PNMT may also be done as a clothing on, stand alone session for those clients who only wish to be treated for specific pain issues. Every session is tailored to meet the needs of each individual client.
